The kids are getting old enough now that they are asking to paint during the day. I love crayons, and I've learned to embrace washable markers, but paint is a messy activity I've attempted a few times in the past with my kids. I won't show many people this, but here I am letting then go to town (in undies) this past summer! :)
However, Caitlin and John got us some GREAT washable paints and an
easel! First thing post party on Monday morning (and I mean like 7:00 AM, before breakfast, and
before Lia even arrived, Sophia and Michaela were begging to paint! :)
And since we've been doing art (coloring, writing, cutting, gluing, and
taping) EVERY day, we are needing to "change it up" and allow these kids
to express themselves! :)
Lia arrived and joined Sophia on her side of the easel! :)
Here is another day of painting, this time at the table! :)
Their techniques are always interesting to observe. I don't know what they mean or what developmental milestones they are expressing. Maddilyn is painting pictures of people and objects. Michaela and Lia are careful and cautious. They use different colors on all different parts of the papers. Sophia likes to soak everything with every color all mushed together. I don't even know if any of her beautiful art has made it home yet since the paper is usually dripping for days if not already full of holes from her wet paintbrush pushing through it! :) And Billy has a ways to go. He mostly likes to eat paints, paint the table, paint his friends or his own body, and is quickly removed from the situation! :)
