First Borns!

According to several theories of birth order, first born children tend to be the leaders, the drivers and the responsible types. They love to feel in control and can feel uncomfortable with surprises or feeling out of their depth. They are conservative in their outlook, which is both a strength and a weakness. Their ability to focus on a goal and their propensity to organize others means they can achieve whatever they put their minds to. Their tendency toward perfectionism can mean they can be low risk-takers but they can be the rock around which organizations can be built. Approval of authority is important for this group so don't expect them to rock the boat too much.

I never gave much thought to birth order, but just knew my Maddi was a sensitive personality, very cautious, trustworthy, and a really good listener (nice in the "terrible two" years)! However, having new kiddos at my house, closer in age to Michaela, but MUCH more like my first born, makes me give a little more credit to some of these theories. While Sophia and Lia are the sweetest and happiest little babies, it can be hard to tell as of yet what their personalities will develop in to. But, if they prove to be as careful and as thoughtful as my sweet Maddi, I have some great times ahead in Brannan care! :)

No offense meant to my adorable Michaela, because those second borns are the 'people' people, the compromisers, and the flexible operators. She is in all the action and a busy little bee.... so instead of encouraging her to try new things, we will have to channel her energies into a place that her low risk taking friends can enjoy! :)
